A quick bite
I have tried for years to get a close up portrait of a Beaver. This year I was finally successful with this very cooperative guy In the Tetons. I caught him happily snacking away on this small log in the Snake river.
Old blue eyes
I have been following this blue eyed white eastern grey squirrel around for about two years now. Over the summer we had thought he had been eaten by a hawk but now that the winter is here he is out and about everyday with his perfect camouflage for this season.
Playing hide and seek with a young mink
This year for my birthday late in June I had an amazing experience with a family of mink. I came across three young mink playing under a pine tree with mom nearby. It didn't take long for the young ones to become curious of me and soon I found myself being part of their game.
It was a long night
On my way one morning to find a brood of Owlets I came across this Raccoon hanging out of a tree. He looked annoyed at me but at the same time kind of curious. I think he just had a long night of hunting and was having a hard time getting to sleep.
I found this young red tail hawk hunting on a small marshy area in a local park. I tried my best to get close to him without disturbing him but the dried leaves made it impossible. As you can tell from the expression on his face I was not sneaking up on him at all.
A bull Elk watching a cow
I found this male Elk towards the end of the day on the Madison river in Yellowstone national park. He had been eating some grass but his attention soon shifted too the female Elk across the river.
Young Garter snake
This was a young Garter snake that I caught sunning itself on a sidewalk in early may. I almost stepped on him and he slithered off into these leaves to hide. I grabbed my camera and went back to photograph him he posed quite nicely for me and I was able to get this shot.
